Holiday Leftovers: The Bittersweet

Lets face it, we all have those bottles hidden in the back of our pantry. You know, the ones that have been collecting dust since your last holiday party and that you have no idea what to do with, but just cant bring yourself to drink them or throw them out. The good news is that there are plenty of household ingredients that you can use to combine them with for some tasty drinks that will make you feel as accomplished as your neighborhood hipster bartender. Heres a quick rundown of easy, simple cocktails you can make without having to change out of your pajamas and go to the grocery store. Assuming, that is, that you usually change out of pajama pants to leave the house. We finish off this week of incredible cocktail creations with the one and only, Bittersweet.

The Bittersweet

1oz Don Julio Reposado Tequila of choice

.5oz Campari

.25 Crème De Cassis

Grapefruit Soda

Instructions: Build up in a rocks glass over ice with first three ingredients, filling the remainder with grapefruit soda (Squirt or Izze work well). Stir and serve.

This refreshing tequila cocktail will leave a lasting bitter-sweet finish. Tequila hasn’t tasted this smooth since that spring break you had in Mexico. Oh the memories…
