David Frost is a world class golfer who grew up in a winemaking family in South Africa and now he makes wine to boot at David Frost Wine in South Africa.
When you were a kid, do you remember plucking a blade of bright green grass, and absent-mindedly chewing on the stem? I hope so, because it probably means you had a healthy, outdoors-oriented childhood. And because that fresh greenness is part of the aroma of this wine. Along with mild elements of tropical fruit and sweetness. So I really wasn’t expecting that hint of smoke on the palate which prevents the wine from being too sweet. Crunchy acidity rounds out the flavors and extends through the shortish finish.
I was pleasantly surprised to find David Frost wines at Trader Joe’s – especially at this price.
