Dark caramel in color this tequila is almost impossibly luminous, and compelling upon pouring. Notes of butterscotch and orange rind are delivered gently with seamless smoothness. It rests for a long while on the back palate like it belongs there, making one question: how do some tequila brands get it so right? This special-reserved añejo will make excellent company for any red meat, including posole, as well as chocolate and fudge-type desserts.
The master distiller is Salvador Rivera Cardona, who numbers and signs each bottle of Azuñia Black tequila personally by hand.
