My original plan for my birthday had been a debauched party in the Philippines. Well no one predicted coronavirus and other various issues did they, so the new plan? A week long road trip through eastern Cambodia. Part 1 Siem Reap to Stung Treng
Technically you’re looking at a 4 hour drive, but hey it’s Cambodia so just getting out of Siem Reap is an hour long ordeal.
The journey itself is extremely picturesque offering small settlements, mountain views and jungle type views. Covid-19 has hit the police hard, so we also discovered them out in force taking “fines”.
Just before you arrive at Stung Treng you’re hit by a huge swathe of the Mekong River as well as the local prison! We avoided pictures of that.
I’ll get into Strung Treng on a later blog, but there’s a huge riverfront offering street food, such as Cambodian sausage, Khmer noodles, fresh coconuts and cold cold Angkor and Anchor Beer. Spending part of the afternoon soaking the day away was a rather pleasant entry into this city!
The rest of our intrepid adventures shall be covered in later blogs, but for now enjoy the photos.
