My diet over my week of quarantine has been 7-11 sandwiches, and my own concoctions, which resulted in the Kimchi Rahmen Sandwich. Today in TST I decided against Indian Food in Chunking Mansions, due to cleanliness. I decided to go to McDonald’s until I spotted a very jolly looking bee. I had discovered Jollibee in Tsim Sha Tsui.
I won’t bore you too much about the Jollibee story, if you want to be bored with that read my blog about them, but Jollibee is the fast-food big Kahuna in the Philippines and not just the motherland! Where Filipinos have congregated in great number, Jollibee has followed. Hong Kong has two Jollibee’s!!!
I headed down the stairs in trepidation, what if it was not the same as Angeles City, what if the menu was different. WHAT IF THERE WAS NO JOLLIBEE GRAVY. Sorry to shout, as I need not have worried, the menu was largely identical, but with some nuanced differences, and meal deals available.
I went for the infamous Jollibee Spaghetti, fried chicken, coke, and gravy. Jollibee spaghetti is sweet, and very much an acquired taste, but hey I guess I acquired that taste.
Jollibee Fried Chicken is not much to write home about, its too crispy, and simply not the colonel!
But then there’s the gravy! Jollibee gravy might not be as good as KFC gravy – which may I add is not available in China, buts so good, that on occasion, or rather one occasion I drank 5 of them. I quite like drinking gravy and make no mistake about that.
Jollibee might not be for everyone, but if you walk past Jollibee Tsimshatsui, stick your head in and give it a try. Word case? You simply don’t like it…..
