FFF SRIRACHA HOT SAUCE
Sriracha – one hot topic!
Can you handle FFF’s new hot sauce? You said you wanted heat, well we listened! Based on feedback from you guys, we are launching a new specially formulated version of the traditional Siriracha sauce.
But what is Sriracha and is it good for us? The general recipe for this tangy thai sauce is chilli pepper, vinegar, garlic, sugar, and salt and preservatives. In true FFF style, we are keeping in the good bits and leaving out the sugar, salt and additives.
We have all heard the rumours that chilli can help kick start the metabolism and aid fat burning but is there any truth in this? The magic chemical present in chilli peppers which gives you that ‘burn’ is called capsaicin. The ‘heat’ does not magically burn off fat. It does however, increase ones metabolism which has been linked to both weight loss and maintenance. Other studies have also found that subjects consumed fewer calories and felt fuller on diet rich in chillies.
Capsaicin consumption also helps to reduce inflammation in the body. Lower rates in inflammation can lead to a reduced risk of certain types of cancer, arthritis, psoriasis, eczema, and many other diseases.
Chillies get their rich red colour from an antioxidant called beta carotene, which is a form of vitamin A. This can be further broken down to form retinol, which helps to delay the ageing of both the skin and the eyes.
Although not as well known, chilli pepper pack quite the punch of vitamin E. When we exercise the body produces free radicals, these can cause oxidative stress to our cells which could lead to cancer. Vitamin E and beta carotene help to destroy and remove free radicals from the body, thereby reversing this effect. So adding that dollop of sriracha could help reduce your risk of certain cancers.
