Deep Fried Foods From the Texas State Fair

The State Fair of Texas runs every year from the last Friday of September for 24 days, and attracts more than 2.5 million people. The fair has been running for 135 years and brings together people from all walks of life. The food that you get at the State Fair is extremely diverse, and you will find influences from all over the world, but one thing is for sure – the Texans sure love to deep fry  things! From giant turkey legs to sticks of butter, you can find a delicious array of foods that have been dipped in batter and fried in oil, and every year there are new choices made by innovative chefs and street food truck owners.

Home of the fair

Texas State Fair takes place in Dallas. Texas, which covers 268596 sq miles, is such a big state that owning land in Texas is easy. If you love the State Fair, industry experts https://texasland.com can help you find the perfect Texas property. From Ranches in Austin, to land near Dallas, the home of the fair, there is no shortage of real estate. With so much space, no wonder there are such diverse food ideas across the state, and this year’s Big Tex Winners reflect that. The food competition has been running at the fair for over a decade. The winner of the “Best Taste – Savory” category this year was Deep Fried Seafood Gumbo Balls, made by Gourmet Royale. The Gumbo Balls were made using a special family recipe, which includes Gulf Coast Crab and delicious Andouille Sausage.

Savory classics

Other finalists from the Big Tex competition included Crispy Crazy Corn made by Ruth Hauntz. Whole kernel corn was deep fried and then coated in a secret seasoning. Added to these golden nuggets of goodness is pineapple slaw and slow-cooked pulled pork. The Lucky Duck Dumplings, made by Bert Concessions are another classic. They are savory pastries filled with duck bacon, roasted sweetcorn and fluffy cream cheese.

Sweet treats

This year, William Family Concessions offered up their Fried Toffee Coffee Crunch Cake, made from cake donuts and English toffee. The cakes are deep fried in panko and cookie crumbs. At the Texas State Fair, you can also find such delectable delights as deep fried bubblegum (made from bubblegum-flavor marshmallows), deep fried jelly beans and if you have a really sweet tooth, a deep fried chocolate Cadbury Creme Egg.

The Texas State Fair is the place to go if you love fried street food. Every year there are innovative new dishes to tickle every taste bud.
