A white wine that begs to treated like a red! The Lebanese geniuses at Chateau Musar suggest serving at 15’c and allowing a three hour decant. I agree wholeheartedly, any colder and it completely mutes this masterpiece and any less time breathing and you’re only getting half the story.
The powerful nose assaults the senses with floral notes, burnt toffee, butterscotch and almond. It’s thoroughly captivating! I felt as though I was cocooned in a Musar blanc bubble, never to be released from it’s grippy evocative scents. The palate is also delightful. Green fruit aplenty, with apricot, peach, honey, sweet pear and toasted almonds.
Waxy, rich and oily in complexion. Texturally this wine is velvet, it’s powerful and incredibly intense, yet retains a slightly restrained elegance, it packs a punch, but has an endearing femininity. It covers all bases and it covers them brilliantly. Perfect for butter basted turkey!
