Graham’s 40 y.o tawny is absolutely outstanding and offers a great alternative to higher priced vintage ports. There’s no situation this wine wouldn’t suit; it’s the ultimate showpiece, the perfect dessert wine and also a wonderful nightcap to round off even the most exhausting of days.
A punchy rum and raisin ice cream nose, with hazelnut and burnt toffee. Very intense. In the mouth, dried fruit aplenty, with raisin and fig dominant and some welcoming wood spice and creamy sweet vanilla oak on the finish.
Rich and sweet, but not sickly; incredibly concentrated, with a voluptuous body and supportive acidity, carrying wonderful length, a beautiful aged character and an array of delicate, elegant flavours and aromas.
Best served slightly chilled at 14’c, allowing to warm in the glass. Once opened, keep refrigerated and do your best to polish it off within a week, although I’m sure in most cases it won’t last anything like that long!
