2013 proved to be a cold year for Chile. The Trinidad Vineyard in the Maipo Valley is typically characterized by a prolonged dry season with a coastal influence. The cool temperatures during the ripening period meant the grapes ripened at a much slower pace which resulted in aromatic intensity, freshness, and crisp acidity. Ventisquero Grey encapsulates each of these characteristics in every bottle, paying homage to each block of vines and their place of origin.
Grey Carmenere is intense cherry red in color with striking violet hues. A rich bouquet of black fruit includes blueberries, blackberries, and black cherries underlined by spices and earthy notes of graphite. The palate offers a tense and vibrant body with an incredible freshness. The mouth starts smooth and velvety while firm tannins and acidity leave a long and persistent finish. Grey Carmenere is best paired with red meat such as venison and lamb.
