2015 Lucas & Lewellen Pinot Noir: The Brother From Another Mother

Though Santa Barbara County is known for Pinot Noir, it is typically from the coastal Santa Rita Hills AVA. This 100% Pinot Noir however comes from its brethren, the inland Los Alamos and Santa Maria valleys, so it presents a different fruit style. Spending nine months in neutral French Oak. There is cranberry, Bing cherry, boysenberry, pomegranate, back notes of cedar, sweet almond, cola, strawberry and black cherry. A mild acidity and moderate tannic structure makes this a more earthen iteration, this is a deeper version, more in line with Oregon than Santa Barbara County. It avoids that bright sunny fruit opting for dark and brooding. It will be tough to find a better Santa Barbara Pinot Noir at this price point.

What’s Its SRP? $20/ 750ML
